You may know him as College Guy from Coyote Ugly or Barry from the show “Strip Mall” or Frank from the TV movie Spring Break Lawyer or Railroad Boy from Joe Dirt or Max from one episode of “Just Shoot Me” or The Idge from “The Kitty Landers Show” or Rank from “All’s Faire in Love,” but one thing this article wants to point out to you… Chris Wylde is not gay.

Check here for the story.

However, Chris Wylde does not approve of gay slurs either - even if the slur is not said directly at his straight self.  And especially not from a guy who looks like this.

There’s a reason our site is called Complain In Vain.  We watch sports, read about sports, watch bad movies, etc - then we comment on those topics in some meaningless (but hopefully funny) way.  For example, we watched the mini-series “The Storm” on NBC a few weeks back - you know, the disaster movie about how James Van Der Beek had to stop his evil boss from the catastrophic consequences of changing the weather.  It was not the best TV we had ever watched, and we even posted stuff about the show… twice (that’s right, here and here).

Today, we found at that Bill Gates also has a blog.  And that Bill Gates watches some of the same shows we do.  But his blog is a little different.  It’s called: “Don’t Complain But Instead Take Action.”  You can click here to check it out.

We have managed to get our hands on the newest Advil commercial.  You may have seen ones with Nolan Ryan talking about his sore joints, or just random folks telling you how Advil has changed their lives.  This one is no different.  While the voice-over is not on this clip yet, we have the transcript.

The guy talking is the one in the back who enters the commercial around the 27-second mark.

“Used to be, I couldn’t even make it through half of the first set at a music festival. I’d have to sit down, then my sore knees would still be killing me in the morning. Then my doctor suggested I try Advil. And he was right.  Now, when I want to go dance at a music festival, I just take two Advil, wrap my knees in bandages, and I can make it the whole day through, and I never have to stop dancing.  Thanks, Advil.”

We took in the final 2 hours of NBC’s “The Storm” last night.  While watching this horrendous 2 hours of TV, we realized something… the writers so whole-heartedly bought into the theory that Marisol Nichols forces the cancellation of shows that they did not even start writing part 2 of the mini-series until this past Wednesday.

There’s no other explanation.  Part 1 of the event was not good, but certainly entertaining.  Part 2, however, was purely just painful.  We can only imagine the writers scrambling on Tuesday night when they got the call that yes, NBC was planning on running part 2 of the mini-series.  Hence, they stuck to 2 common themes - James Van Der Beek runs from bad guys in the rain and some woman has a baby during a storm.  There you have it.

And we’ll close with a nice line from the NY Times review of the show: “NBC has given its current batch of Sunday night mini-series a name: Survival Sundays. It refers to the survival of the human race, but it could just as easily refer to the survival of the viewer’s brain.”

(PS - that line from the review barely beat out this one as our favorite: “’The Storm’ packs an hour and a half of story into its four hours.”)
