We saw this quick blurb about T.O.’s Christmas party that occurred Monday night. Tony Romo did not attend because of his sore back, and neither did Jason Witten.
So we ask: what, did you think that ice on Romo’s back holds itself in place?
As you may have heard, Charles Barkley is not happy about Auburn’s hiring of Gene Chizik as the new football coach.
But there’s one fact that Charles somehow omitted when analyzing Chizik against his pick, Buffalo coach Turner Gill. This past season, Iowa State won 2 games, one of which was a 48-28 thumping of Kent State. And what happened when Buffalo played Kent State? Buffalo lost at home 24-21!
So you really think that hiring 2-10 Chizik was such a bad idea now???
Come on, Charles. Check all the facts next time!
You may recall a few years back when Roger Clemens pitched for the Astros, he was permitted to not go on road trips with the team if he was not pitching any of those games. Well, Penn State coach Joe Paterno has taken that type of catrering to the extreme.
Joe Pa has just signed a new 3-year extension with Penn State. You can check that article here.
But what that article does not metion - and what our inside source has learned - is that the deal also includes a fourth-year option where Paterno can coach games from University Park Nursing Home on Waupelani Drive (as opposed to the press box).
Now that really crosses the line!
Why is that? Duke Preston is the Buffalo Bills’ offensive lineman who leveled ref Jeff Triplette on Sunday while chasing a fumble. Tripette did not see the hit coming and his face hit the turf pretty hard (see bottom right).
So why is Preston lucky? Because if that ref had been Wilbur Hackett, Jr., the end result would have been totally different.
Now, you might have seen a video that’s been floating around of newly hired Auburn football coach Gene Chizik arriving on the plains to a less than enthusiastic welcoming party. If not, you can click here for that video.
However, we were able to locate another video out there - we think from Toomer’s Corner - of some other Tiger fans actually cheering on their new coach.
Oops, we need to make a correction. This is actually video from Ames, Iowa, where Cyclone fans were celebrating the fact that they would not have to fire their coach and pay him any buy-out money.
We have been attempting to follow up on this Dallas Cowboys situation first invented by ESPN and then reported by us after reading what it said on ESPN. Amazingly, we have been able to obtain photographic evidence of one of the anonymous players that ESPN’s Ed Werder has been speaking with. This photo came during one of Ed Werder’s conversations. It could be the player who said, “We are not together as a team, and that includes the coaches.” But we cannot yet confirm that.
There’s an awesome story coming out of Dallas today that Cowboys’ wideout Terrell Owens is upset because Tony Romo is better friends with Jason Witten than T.O. The article even notes that T.O. thinks Romo and Witten draw up secret plays to get Witten passes.
Word on the street is that T.O. was going to take his ball and go home… but he dropped the it as he tried to leave.
If you could see one rematch of a regular season college football game in a bowl game, which would it be be?
(a) Oklahoma vs. Texas
(b) Alabama vs. Florida
(c) Texas vs. Texas Tech
(d) Wake Forst vs. Navy
***For those of you who voted for (d), we have some great news… turn on ESPN on December 20th at 11am eastern, or just check here.
