We have enjoyed the Olympic swimming events as much as everyone else.  And as we watched the Olympic swimming events of last night, we heard the Dan Hicks, the commentator for NBC, make what we thought was an outrageous claim about gold medalist Ryan Lotche.  He stated, “You won’t find anyone more laid back than Ryan Lochte.”

Really?  An Olympic gold medalist?  You can’t find someone more laid back than this guy?  But after some further research, we think that claim from Hicks may be true.

We came across an obscure interview from 1999 in which screenwriter Joel Coen made the following claim: “When writing The Big Lebowski, we modeled the character of ‘the dude’ after swimmer Ryan Lotche.”

Game, set, match for Dan Hicks and his hyperbole.  That comment really tied the broadcast together.
