That’s the question we pose to on Robert Horry. They might still be proud of him, but it’s much tougher over the last two years than it was for the previous 36 years of his life.

Horry, who has dunked,*** was at it again with his “pick” from behind on David West, who has also dunked, last night. It’s rather difficult watching the Spurs these days. If they were in a movie, they would be the underhanded, cheap-shotting bad guy team that the good guy team had to overcome. The good guys here, of course, are the young Hornets.

But look at what has become of Horry’s career. He is a glorified Nehemiah Ingram. Who is Ingram? Other than a player who has dunked, Ingram is that “player” that Temple coach John Cheney sent in the game to foul against St. Joseph’s in 2005. Cheney, who we don’t think has dunked, was suspended for the season after his hard foul instructions led to a broken arm for a St. Joe’s player.

One thing was different though about the Ingram play, the fans didn’t chant his name like the jackass Spurs’ fans did for Horry on Thursday. Yeah, what a cheap play! Way to go Robert! If their best player can’t play, then it can be just like the game Amare missed last year for the Suns! (Amare Stoudamire, a forward for the Phoenix Suns, has dunked.)

Check Horry’s stats in these playoffs. Truly embarrassing. Can you even be considered a role player when your role is to commit fouls? Now, we wish Shaq would have laid him out during the attempted hack-a-Shaq in round 1. Also, Shaq has dunked.

And of course, each time Horry touches the court in the playoffs, he distances himself one more game for the record of most playoff games played. Looking into the numbers on the guy he passed this year for that record, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (who has dunked), just shows another example of his final days have been quite the embarrassment.

In Kareem’s last season in the playoff, 1988-89, he played in 15 games at 23 minutes per game. He averaged 11 points and 4 rebounds and was a starter. Once Kareem could no longer contribute to his team, he retired. But he played meaningful minutes in every playoff game that led to the record.

Of course, Horry’s time on the court has been meaningful too, namely because he sways the series for the old-timers with a cheap shot on a top player for the opponent. In these playoffs, Horry has played in 10 games, averaging 8.6 minutes per game. And in that short amount of time, he has committed 26 fouls! Last night, Cheap Shot Bob committed 5 fouls in 13:46. In Game 5, he committed 4 fouls in just 7:23 of playing time. What a joke.

And so, come Monday night, we will be cheering for New Orleans. And if there’s any karma out there, the Hornets will win this game by the same margin they have won the other 3 games in The Big Easy.
