This morning on the radio, we thought we were listening to a commercial for a car dealership. You know, one of those where the guy screams about how many extra Capris they received this month and how he has to get them off the lot.

Turns out, it was a college basketball commercial. And for the University of Indiana, no less. After seeing this article, the commercial made a lot more sense. It went something like this…

“This weekend only, all scholarships must go! That’s right, if you’re in the Bloomington area this weekend, come on down for a tryout. If you’ve ever played basketball, cheered for basketball, watched a game, watched someone watch a game, have few class credits or no credits, come on by! Let me put it you simple folks, we got four scholarships too many for next season on account of all the players leaving Indiana, and they must go ASAP! We are handing out scholarships in a fire sale like you’ve never seen. Ever wanted to experience the excitement of Big 10 basketball??? Ever wanted to be a part of a game where the teams combine to score 86 points??? Well now’s your chance, but act fast. We know these scholarships will be gone quickly, so don’t sit there just wishing you could play D-1 basketball - make it happen!”

But what really topped off the commercial for us was the guy who spoke to the fine print really quickly at the end.

“Certain restrictions may apply. You are not eligible if you live in Alaska or Hawaii, or have spoken to, looked at, or received a text message from Kelvin Sampson.”
