We just read this story about the Yankees-Rays spring training brawl, which highlights the fact that Yankee Shelley Duncan claims his slide, shown in the clip below, was a not dirty a play.
Duncan stated, “I saw it a couple times. I still don’t understand why they were as upset as they were.” You can decide for yourself if there was a reason to be upset. Read the rest of this entry »
We have just read that UNC star Tyler Hansbrough will have his jersey retired. He will be just the 8th player in Tar Heel history to have his number retired - pretty impressive stuff.
Fortunately, our inside source was on the scene for Tyler’s comments to the media. According to the AP article, Hansbrough had this to say about his honor:
“It truly is something special to have accomplished. In fact, it’s kind of hard to sit here and talk about how it feels to be put in the same category as the players who are up there already.” Read the rest of this entry »
After reading this article about Past Summit dislocating her shoulder last week, Erin Andrews likely commented:
“Oh, I know what she means. I had an encounter with that same ‘raccoon’ - nearly threw out my shoulder as well.”
We were watching the West Coast Conference tournament last night, and the Emmitt Smith of college basketball was calling the action. That’s right, Stephen Bardo was on color commentary for the night.
He said something during the pre-game for St. Mary’s-San Diego that made us really happy to have a DVR. We hit the rewind, listened to it again just to make sure we understood him correctly. And yes, we did hear him correctly. And this is what he said…
“You’re talking about a team in St. Mary’s, that has been ranked in the top 25, may have the toughest path to a tournament championship than anyone in the country having to play San Diego on their home court.” Read the rest of this entry »
With Brett Favre retiring, here’s our concern… if we can’t root for America, then who can we root for???
(Especially with the Olympics coming up.)

While the field is not yet set for either of the post-season tournaments, we like to get this preview out early, so you can look ahead to some teams that might make some noise in this year’s NIT. Read the rest of this entry »
After reading this story about a mountain lion in South Dakota, we assume that somewhere in southern California, the writers for season 2 of “24″ are sitting around saying:
“See, we told you that could happen. We told you!”
If you complete a follow-up dunk to cut the Rockets’ lead to 10 then are idiot enough to mock Dikembe Mutombo by waiving your finger toward the crowd…
You might be Kenyon Martin.
