We have just read that UNC star Tyler Hansbrough will have his jersey retired. He will be just the 8th player in Tar Heel history to have his number retired - pretty impressive stuff.

Fortunately, our inside source was on the scene for Tyler’s comments to the media. According to the AP article, Hansbrough had this to say about his honor:

“It truly is something special to have accomplished. In fact, it’s kind of hard to sit here and talk about how it feels to be put in the same category as the players who are up there already.”

After the media cleared out, our source had the chance to ask Psycho T a few more questions in general.

In response to a question about his team’s chances in the ACC tournament, Tyler said, “It’s kind of hard to sit here and talk about how our team will play in the ACC tournament.”

Our source also asked about the physical play inside this season, to which Tyler answered, “It’s kind of hard to sit here and talk about how there has been physical play inside this season.”

When asked about his team’s hard fought win at Duke last Saturday, Tyler commented, “It’s kind of hard to sit here and talk about how we won that tough game at Duke last weekend.”

Then he was asked about how life is around campus being a basketball star, and he replied, “It’s kind of hard to sit here and talk about how life is as a basketball star in Chapel Hill.”

Oddly enough, there was one question to which Hansbrough had a more detailed response than the previous ones about basketball. When asked why he thought that one-fifth of Americans could not locate the U.S. on a world map, here’s what Tyler had to say:

“I personally believe - that, U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some - people out there in our nation don’t have maps, and, uh, I believe that our ad-education, like such as, uh, South Africa and the Iraq, everywhere like such as. And I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, or should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future.”

We ended the interview after this question.
